Sukhothai - Tours of Northern Thailand

Found in the 13th century, Sukhothai (literally means Dawn of Happiness) was the first truly independent Thai Kingdom, which enjoyed a golden age under King Ramkhamhaeng, credited with creating the Thai alphabet. The superb temples and monuments of this great city have been lovingly restored in Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for all travellers.

Sukhothai is an absolute must-see travel destination for anyone visiting Thailand. Sukhothai Historical Park is UNESCO World Heritage Site housing a superb collection of restored temples and monuments. This province was the first independent Thai Kingdom, and is recognized for the creation of the Thailand Tours alphabet.

Founded in the 13th century, Sukothai (literally translated “dawn of happiness”) is located 427 kilometers from Bangkok  on the southern edge of the norther region. It spreads across more than 6,500 kilometers and is divided into 9 districts: Muang Sukhothai, Ban Dan Lan Hoi, Khiri Mat, Kong Krailat, Sawankhalok, Si Nakhon, Si Samrong, Si Satchanalai and Thung Saliam.
